Reggina boss Nevio Orlandi has praised his side for climbing out of the relegation zone and securing Serie A status for next season.
The Calabrians looked doomed at Christmas, but inexperienced Coach Orlandi managed to inspire them to keep afloat.
Last weekend’s 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Empoli confirmed that Reggina will spend a seventh consecutive campaign amongst the elite.
“I’m happy for the team and the club as a whole because we have reached a crucial objective for this city,” Orlandi declared.
“When I joined I saw that the side had the capacity to pull themselves back up the table, but it was still very tough psychologically.
“After the two consecutive defeats against Genoa and Fiorentina, it was easy to get a bit down, but instead there was the right reaction.”
Despite his heroics Orlandi’s future still isn’t clear, but he is clearly hoping to start next term on the Granillo bench.
“I have not yet spoken to the President,” he explained. “I feel like I am a man of the club, but I will accept whatever decision.”
