Sereni enjoys Turin renaissance
Friday 16 May, 2008

Torino goalkeeper Matteo Sereni wants to commit his future to the Granata and has hit out at former club Lazio.

The talented shot-stopper warmed the bench at the Stadio Olimpico for three years and made just 31 appearances for the Biancocelesti between 2003 and 2007.

But Sereni has re-launched his career since joining Torino on a free transfer last summer and is an outsider for a place in Roberto Donadoni’s Euro 2008 squad.

“I accept Donadoni’s choices and although I don’t expect to be picked others will miss out too,” he told Italia Uno.

“To tell the truth I am calm and I will be happy when the message arrives to say that I have been picked for pre-season camp with Torino.

“I have the enthusiasm of a youngster and I hope to stay with the Granata for as long as possible and as long as they want me.

“My contract expires next year, but we are already talking about a renewal.”

Despite his contentment in Turin, it is clear that Sereni is still angry at being passed over at Lazio.

“Nothing was wrong in my head,” he explained. “The problems were in other people’s minds.

“Lazio robbed me of matches, which are the things that I like most. But fortunately, there is a club that has faith in me.”
