Genoa President Enrico Preziosi admits with great sadness that Diego Milito and Thiago Motta are “destined to leave us."
The striker has been in talks with Inter as confirmed by his agent and a deal is said to be at an advanced stage.
“Someone like Milito is destined to leave us,” sighed Preziosi. “We are not drowning and therefore are not forced to sell Milito. After all, it could be that I don’t like the offer.
“Up until now I have not had direct contact with Inter, but I do know they are not behaving badly. It is normal for a club to listen to the player and his agent first.”
Milito has been one of the revelations of this Genoa side with 19 goals, but the other is also on his way out after just one campaign.
Thiago Motta was picked up as a free agent following an injury-ravaged spell at Barcelona and proved to be a very wise investment.
“The money I would eventually get from Thiago Motta would be reinvested to form a squad at the level of the commitments that await us,” added the President.
“I already know what I want.”
