There are rumours that Sampdoria boss Walter Mazzarri has angered his club by starting talks with Lazio, but Aquile chief Claudio Lotito pleads ignorance.
After a dismal season, Lazio are widely expected to part company with embattled tactician Delio Rossi after this weekend’s final game against Napoli.
Mazzarri, who has impressed by leading Sampdoria to sixth place, is said to be a target for the capital club’s supremo Lotito, but he insists that he hasn’t made any approach.
“I have never met with Mazzarri,” he bellowed. “I don’t read the newspapers and so I don’t know what they have written, but printing lies about Lazio has become a hobby for them.
“I haven’t had the meeting with Rossi yet either. I was supposed to see him yesterday evening, but I had to rearrange because I had a thousand other things to do.”
Former Lazio striking star Bruno Giordano and ex-Torino Coach Walter Novellino are also reportedly in the frame for the Lazio job, should Rossi receive his marching orders.
