Dida to go back to Brazil?
Thursday 15 May, 2008

Brazilian side Cruzeiro are considering bringing Milan goalkeeper Nelson Dida back to the Mineirão, despite his acrimonious departure in 1998.

Dida’s days at Milan seem to be numbered after a miserable campaign that was blighted by a succession of injuries and howlers.

The Rossoneri may consider releasing the 34-year-old this summer and it seems that he could find a place at former club Cruzeiro, despite the fact he left under a cloud back in 1998 when he took the club to court in order to break his contract.

“It was the first time that a player went to court against Cruzeiro, but he was an idol for the fans and our doors are open to him,” sporting director Eduardo Maluf stressed.

“I don’t see any problem with having him in our team again.”

Cruzeiro’s current goalkeeper Fabio has made it clear that he is looking for a move to Europe this summer and could make way for Dida between the posts in Belo Horizonte.

Whether or not there is an offer from Cruzeiro, Dida is expected to leave San Siro at the end of the season as Milan continue to be linked with a swoop for Fiorentina ‘keeper Sebastien Frey or PSV’s unsettled shot-stopper Gomes.
