Kaka concedes that Milan’s plight is of their own making, but maintains that it has been a successful season for the Diavolo.
The world champions need to beat Udinese and hope for Torino to upset Fiorentina if they are to play in next term’s Champions League.
“We are working well because we can’t give up while we have a chance and we must keep believing,” Kaka insisted.
“This is a week of important work because we want to be in the right shape for Sunday’s game.
“We have to win and then just hope that everything else goes well.
“We have found ourselves in this unfortunate situation, but it our fault and we have to see what happens on Sunday.”
But while the Press write off the Rossoneri’s campaign as a failure, Kaka takes a more positive view.
“It has been a good season,” he declared.
“We won two important titles in the Club World Cup and the European Super Cup, even if the League is in the balance and the Champions League was a bit disappointing.
“It would really upsetting not to see Milan in the Champions League next year, but this season we made the choice to go to Japan
“We had to make up the games when we returned, so we were playing while others were resting, but it was a positive choice because now Milan are the most decorated club in the world.”
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has revealed that Kaka will be used in a new second striker position next year and the Brazilian concluded by welcoming the shift.
“It’s a position that I like and I am suited to it because it gives me the chance to get close to goal,” he beamed. “I will be able to have more shots and provide more assists.”
