Inter very close to Milito
Thursday 14 May, 2009

Inter have made significant steps forward in their efforts to sign Genoa striker Diego Milito, according to the Italian Press.

Inter are great admirers of the 29-year-old Argentine, who has scored 19 goals in 28 appearances for Genoa this season.

Yesterday, the player's agent, Fernando Hidalgo, reportedly met with Inter's 'Minister of Finance', Rinaldo Ghelfi, to broker a deal.

Hidalgo asked for a four-year contract worth £4m a season, but Inter do not want Milito, who soon turns 30, to be tied to the club for so long.

Inter are said to be pushing Milito to accept a three-year deal worth £3.5m a season, but Hidalgo believes his client should hold out.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to land the former Real Zaragoza striker, though, and Inter would apparently consider handing him a four-year deal at a lower rate.

Hidalgo will reportedly meet with Inter director of sport Marco Branca later today to discuss the deal further.
