Toro patron 'extremely optimistic'
Wednesday 13 May, 2009

Torino have been put into a pre-match training camp and President Urbano Cairo remains “extremely optimistic” of safety.

The Granata are on the very edge of the relegation zone and their situation was not helped by a 1-1 draw with Bologna on Sunday afternoon.

To better prepare for this weekend's encounter with Napoli, the team has been put into a pre-match training camp - known as a ritiro - where the entire squad stays together 24 hours a day.

“I see a Torino side that is improving in both physical and psychological terms,” insisted President Cairo.

“The draw with Bologna did not give us that push towards safety that we were expecting, so we have to go to Naples with the lone objective of victory.”

The drop zone is very much in the balance with Lecce and Reggina also reviving their fortunes in recent weeks.

Toro face injury doubts for Sunday's game over Eugenio Corini, Elvis Abbruscato, Marco Di Loreto, Nicola Ventola and Paolo Zanetti.

“The team is working well and I like [Giancarlo] Camolese more every day both as a Coach and a person.

"There is great unity between all elements of the club and the signs are positive and I am extremely optimistic.”
