Marco Materazzi has again apologised for missing Inter’s penalty and insists he’ll ride out this latest setback in his career.
The defender was berated by media, fans and club staff alike after taking a spot-kick ahead of designated penalty taker Julio Cruz in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Siena.
“I started this blog to dialogue with the fans, but I won’t do that this week,” began Matrix on his official website.
“That is not because I have nothing to say or don’t want to show my face. I always have done and did so again by apologising for that missed penalty and saying I will try once more to lift my head and keep looking forward.”
Following the latest disappointing result that cut their lead over Roma to one point, Inter announced a Press silence so none of its players will speak to the media in the run-up to the final game with Parma.
“It was simply right that I follow the directions given by the club, who would prefer to avoid any type of comment this week. It is another method of concentrating 100 per cent and focusing only on Sunday.”
There are reports Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be fit to play in that final match at Parma’s Stadio Tardini.
The Swede has been out of action since March 29 and received extensive treatment for a left knee problem.
Ibra returned to Milan and took part in today’s game between ranks, so there is hope he could be on the bench come the weekend.
Esteban Cambiasso is out of action with a right ankle injury.
