Conte given Juve get-out clause
Wednesday 13 May, 2009

Bari have warned that they will not release Coach Antonio Conte to join any club other than Juventus.

The tactician is hot property on the transfer market after taking the San Nicola side to their first promotion into Serie A for eight years.

The former Bianconeri star midfielder has admitted it would be a dream to lead the Turin giants in what would be his debut top flight experience.

Juve aren’t the only ones showing an interest, though, as Conte has also been linked with Sampdoria, Genoa and Atalanta.

“I would be happy to release Conte only and exclusively in the scenario where he received a call from Juventus,” explained Bari President Vincenzo Matarrese.

“In that case I would be particularly happy to have created the situation allowing Conte to continue his career in a prestigious club.”

After a 10-hour meeting of the Board of Directors on Tuesday, Juve President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli would only say Claudio Ranieri was safe “until the end of the season. Then we’ll see.”

Conte isn’t the only important figure at Bari, though, as Matarrese also confirmed director of sport Giorgio Perinetti is going nowhere.

“They won’t be leaving Bari. I have told both of my ample satisfaction with the excellent season we’ve had and for the joy the team has given our extraordinary fans.

“Out of respect for those supporters, both will stay with the club to continue the project they started.”
