Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani will need surgery in his right ankle and faces a lengthy lay-off.
The Azzurri star has been out of action since March 11 when Roma were eliminated from the Champions League by Arsenal.
And it has been confirmed that the ankle tendon problem, which has been lingering for several months, requires an operation.
Aquilani will travel to Amsterdam today along with club doctor Stefano Del Signore and will undergo a procedure by Professor Niek Van Dijk on Wednesday, a club statement reads.
Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni finally had a procedure yesterday for a cartilage problem in his knee and the two men are both likely to be out of action for around three months.
The Giallorossi's season is effectively over and they are preparing for a summer of changes with Coach Luciano Spalletti reportedly ready to leave.
