Prandelli sees decisive Sunday
Sunday 10 May, 2009

Cesare Prandelli considers this “an important day” in Fiorentina's march to the Champions League, but he's not targeting Juventus in third.

“I look over our shoulders rather than out in front,” said the Coach whose side is now just two points adrift of Juve.

“To mathematically qualify for the Champions League we need six points and I'm convinced we can achieve them. I know the fans will dream and make pledges, but we must focus on the next game with Sampdoria.”

The Viola conquered Catania 2-0 away from home with goals from Stevan Jovetic and Luciano Zauri, while the fact Genoa and Roma both drew means they extend their advantage in fourth.

“It was an important day, we played a great game and picked up maximum points. The team has belief and motivation with the right spirit and hunger to score that second goal. We were always out there with the right attitude.

“We are gaining a sense of consistency for a few weeks now and the lads have done very well to get back to work on a new tactical system.”

Jovetic did not score for months, but has found his feet with this switch to the Trequartista role.

“Let's just say that he is finding his position, even though I am convinced he can also play out wide when [Adrian] Mutu returns,” added Prandelli.
