Rossi bets it all on the Coppa
Sunday 10 May, 2009

Delio Rossi hopes yesterday’s defeat was just a blip, as Lazio “gamble it all in one night” for the Coppa Italia Final.

The Biancocelesti fell 3-1 at home to Udinese in their third consecutive Serie A defeat, despite originally taking the lead through Tommaso Rocchi.

“I hope it was just a slip in concentration. We thought we could control the game, but that’s not really in our characteristics,” said the Coach.

He rested some players and had Cristian Ledesma suspended, but is confident Goran Pandev and Pasquale Foggia will be fit for Wednesday’s showdown.

“Pandev will certainly be back for the Final. I made a few changes, but on Wednesday we will gamble it all in one night against Sampdoria.”

The winners of this clash will go into the Europa Cup – the new name for the UEFA Cup – and it is the last chance for both sides to qualify for continental competition.

Lazio will have the home advantage, as the Final had long been planned at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

“There will be a lot of pressure and emotions will run high, but I think it is always better to play these matches in front of your own fans,” added Rossi.
