Antonio Conte will stay on the Bari bench if Juventus allow it, confessed club patron Vincenzo Matarrese. The Coach has earned praise after taking the San Nicola side to promotion from Serie B for the first time in eight years. However, the celebrations are still on-going and already Conte is looking to the future, as the former Juventus midfielder has been linked with Claudio Ranieri's job. Conte will stay on the Bari bench if Juventus allow it, sighed President Matarrese on Sky Sport Italia television. The tactician himself did not deny a call from Turin was a very real possibility and above all one he would not turn down. The President explained himself well, said Conte. Now we must enjoy this marvellous moment, then we will see what happens. Conte wore the Juventus shirt from 1991 to 2004, scoring 29 goals in 295 appearances for the club. This is only his second full season in management after a spell as assistant manager to Gigi De Canio at Siena and his brief experience on the Arezzo bench, where he was fired and re-hired. The 39-year-old took over at Bari in 2007 despite protests from some fans due to the fact his hometown is local rival Lecce. |
