Sissoko fractures foot
Sunday 8 March, 2009

Terrible news for Juventus ahead of the Chelsea showdown, as Momo Sissoko has fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot.

The midfielder has been struggling with pain in that foot for some time, but during a collision in last night’s 1-0 derby win over Torino, fractured a bone.

The official club website confirmed the news with a Press release this afternoon, although there is no word on how long he will be sidelined for, but it is likely to be at least a month.

Sissoko had been rested for much of that game in order to prepare for Tuesday’s Champions League tie.

Losing the former Liverpool man is a heavy blow for the Bianconeri, who are already without midfielders Claudio Marchisio, Mauro Camoranesi and Cristiano Zanetti.

The injury list also includes Paolo De Ceglie, while Nicola Legrottaglie and Zdenek Grygera are battling to be fit in time.

The referee assigned for Tuesday’s game in Turin is Spaniard Alberdo Undiano Mallenco.
