Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists Inter have set their sights on victory at Old Trafford after the morale-boosting win in Genoa.
“This was a very important result, as leading in to it we had drawn 3-3 with Roma and lost 3-0 to Sampdoria,” he said of the 2-0 triumph at Marassi.
“It was crucial that we win and we did it against a very strong side that is playing excellent football. Now we go to Manchester with a lot of confidence and the right enthusiasm. I’m not worried.”
Ibra scored the opener after 90 seconds by chipping the goalkeeper, then Mario Balotelli’s second caused controversy as it may or may not have completely crossed the line.
“[Dejan] Stankovic gave me a great assist and I attacked the space, so when I saw Rubinho come running out I knew the only way to get it in the net was to chip it over him.”
It was the Swede’s first game in a week after he missed the Roma clash with a muscular problem.
“I am much better than the last few days, as I played 90 minutes and felt no pain. It is only normal for some others carrying injury to be worried, but we have such a large squad with players of real quality who can step in. That is why we are the leaders.”
The Nerazzurri visit Manchester United with a 0-0 first leg result, so a ticket to the Champions League quarter-final is still up for grabs.
“If we play as a team, compact, concentrated and with belief, I am not at all worried,” smiled Ibrahimovic.
“Anything can happen in the Champions League. This is a decisive match, we are going there to win obviously but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
The defence could require a huge reshuffle, as Walter Samuel and Cristian Chivu missed Saturday’s game, while Marco Materazzi and Nicolas Burdisso both limped off.
