After threatening to quit at the end of the season, Cesare Prandelli has been urged to stay at Fiorentina by President Andrea Della Valle.
The Coach was disappointed and bitter following the criticism that came with their UEFA Cup exit to Ajax and admitted he was reconsidering his future.
“Prandelli just tried to reunite the club, fans and players together in their common goals,” assured Della Valle on Radio Blu.
“I hope he will remain with us for a very long time. There is passion in Florence, at times too much, as some would need a little more common sense.
“The fans have never let their support waver, though. I think the controversy can be considered over and done with.”
Meanwhile, the Viola are still in fourth place and closing in on Milan in third, so Sunday’s home game with Palermo will be a test of their credentials.
“It is going to be an extremely important game,” continued President Della Valle.
“We want to fight to the end in order to qualify for the Champions League. Are we bearing down on Milan? It might be better to check behind our shoulders first.”
Genoa and Roma are both within two points of Fiorentina and also targeting a top four finish.
