Milan are looking to sign a French goalkeeper for next season after an uncertain year between the sticks.
While Zeljko Kalac has impressed of late, few believe him to be the Rossoneri’s long-term first-choice stopper.
Former number one Nelson Dida hasn’t started since January 13 against Napoli and is no longer considered reliable enough to play consistently.
The Diavolo have identified two players, Sebastien Frey and Hugo Loris to add stability behind a creaky defence.
Frey has been courted by the Milanisti for a long time but has reiterated that, while flattered, he is happy at Fiorentina.
“Milan is one of the greatest teams in the world. Certainly, to go to a big club is a challenge and I would like to face that reality.
“But now I think only about doing well for Fiorentina and of doing my best in this championship with the Viola.”
Loris, another Frenchman, has made clear his intention to leave Nice at the end of the season and join a top-side.
The 21-year-old’s agent Stephane Courbis was at San Siro on Tuesday night to watch Milan play Arsenal.
“Now is not the best time to speak of Hugo’s situation. He wants to concentrate on his football and Nice. We will evaluate his future in a little while.”
