Jose explains Genoa importance
Friday 6 March, 2009

Jose Mourinho reveals that tomorrow's trip to Genoa will influence selection for next week's Champions League epic against Manchester United.

The Nerazzurri are looking to bounce back after a humiliating 3-0 Coppa Italia semi-final defeat against Sampdoria.

And Mourinho believes that a tough away day at Genoa has a special significance.

“Genoa are playing some of the best football in Italy at the moment,” the Special One said.

“They are a team that play very calmly and that does them a lot of good.

“It's natural that the game will affect the selection decisions for the match against Manchester United.

“Whoever plays well at Marassi will write their name on the team-sheet for the next test.”

After recent controversy, Mourinho refuted suggestions that he “looked angry” during his Press conference.

“That must be something that you are feeling,” he said. “I have just come out of the sauna, I'm not angry.

“My words after the defeat against Sampdoria weren't an attack on the players. I take my own responsibility - we take victories and defeats as a group.

“I am proud of myself. How long will I stay in Italy? You never know in football - two years, four years, 10 years, it depends.

“At the end of the season I will leave Italy to go on holiday in Africa where I will do charity work with children.”

Cristian Chivu, Walter Samuel, Julio Cruz and Victor Obinna aren't in the squad to face Genoa but Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns.

Inter (squad): Julio Cesar, Orlandoni, Toldo; Burdisso, Cordoba, Maicon, Materazzi, Rivas, Santon; Bolzoni, Cambiasso, Figo, Jimenez, Muntari, Stankovic, Vieira; Adriano, Crespo, Ibrahimovic, Balotelli, Mancini
