Friendly: Milan win in Qatar
Wednesday 4 March, 2009

Milan have won their friendly against Al Sadd 2-1 thanks to goals from Alexandre Pato and Luca Antonini.

The Rossoneri said their visit to Qatar would be their last lucrative friendly of the season so Carlo Ancelotti can focus on training every day to emerge from their crisis.

Ronaldinho and Kaka were injured, but made the trip to greet the fans, while the Coach fielded a 4-4-2 system with David Beckham and Marek Jankulovski on the wings.

A defensive error almost let Kalifan in early on, but Pato ran on to Andriy Shevchenko’s through ball to to-poke the opener on 27 minutes.

Al Sadd equalised soon after with Golam’s angled drive, but Milan sealed the scoreline before half-time with a left-foot strike from Antonini.

There was bad news for Paolo Maldini, who only played for 16 minutes before making way for Daniele Bonera.

Ancelotti made sweeping changes for the second half and Milan went close to a third goal on several occasions with a better performance.

Pippo Inzaghi was as sprightly as ever and skimmed the woodwork from close range, then had a goal ruled offside.

Milan: Abbiati (Dida 46); Antonini (Darmian 46), Maldini (Bonera 16) (Senderos 46), Thiago Silva, Favalli; Beckham (Pirlo 46), Emerson (Viudez 60), Cardacio (Mattioni 46), Jankulovski (Zambrotta 46); Pato (Inzaghi 46), Shevchenko

Silvio wants wage cuts
There are reports in the peninsula that Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi has asked transfer guru Adriano Galliani to slash the Rossoneri's wage bill. More
