Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has undergone successful surgery on his knee.
The Rossoneri No 1 damaged ligaments in his knee during the 5-1 thrashing of Siena a fortnight ago.
After a brief period of complete rest, Abbiati has gone under the knife and can begin the painstaking process of rehabilitation.
Milan would like to communicate that Abbiati was operated on today in Antwerp by Professor Marc Martens, a statement on Milan's official website reads.
The player's cruciate ligament in his right knee was reconstructed and the operation was a complete success.
Abbiati's recovery time is estimated to be between five and six months.
The former Torino shot-stopper will be back in action at the start of next season.
