Giovinco key to Amauri?
Sunday 30 March, 2008

Juventus could snap up Amauri for £10m plus youngsters among Domenico Criscito, Sebastian Giovinco and Paolo De Ceglie.

Palermo have said for some time they will release the Brazilian at the end of this season so that he can make his dream of playing for a big club come true.

Milan, Roma, Inter, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea have all shown an interest in the striker, but according to the Corriere dello Sport Juve are the favourites.

The report suggests they have offered £10m cash plus a selection of promising young players for a total value of £17m.

Among those on Palermo’s wish list are Under-21 internationals Criscito – currently at Genoa on loan – Empoli star Giovinco and Siena’s De Ceglie.

Other potential figures in the deal are Raffaele Palladino, Claudio Marchisio, Sergio Almiron, Marco Marchionni, Antonio Nocerino and Lanzafame.

Juventus have always had a promising youth academy and loan their starlets out all over Europe to gain experience.

Many never get to wear the Bianconeri jersey and pick up value as they impress playing for smaller clubs.

Giovinco’s sale would be a surprise, as there has been talk of his imminent return to Turin after some stunning performances from the pint-sized player for Empoli and the Azzurrini.

On the other hand, if Amauri were to arrive at Juve on a five-year contract worth almost £2m per season, then there would be precious little space for Giovinco to shine.
