Spalletti has to make do
Saturday 29 March, 2008

Luciano Spalletti is disappointed only with the result, but is pleased with the way Roma reacted at the Sant’Elia.

Cagliari took the lead just two minutes and four seconds into the game thanks to a Matteo Ferrari own goal, but Francesco Totti’s free kick rescued a 1-1 draw.

“The lads played a good game and deserved more, so it is a little disappointing not to take home three points,” said the Coach.

“The match got off to a very bad start, as we conceded immediately and everything changed from that moment on.

“At this stage we have to be content with what we achieved, it’s a result that must be accepted and we did everything we could.”

This draw still reduces the gap from leaders Inter to three points, but it all depends on what the Nerazzurri do away to Lazio this evening.

“It doesn’t matter what they do, we are the ones who need to pick up points,” warned Spalletti.

Francesco Totti played with strapping to his knee and is not considered at risk for the Champions League quarter-final with Manchester United.

“Totti is alright and Alberto Aquilani impressed me when he came off the bench.”
