Mou denies Moratti meeting
Saturday 29 March, 2008

After his spokesman was quoted as confirming a meeting with Inter President Massimo Moratti, Jose Mourinho has denied any encounter.

The media around Europe has been buzzing since last night with reports that Mourinho had flown over to Milan for “advanced negotiations” with Moratti.

Spokesman Eladio Parames was quoted as confirming the news. “It’s true, Mourinho and Mendes were in Milan.

“They left Lisbon yesterday and in the afternoon met the Inter President. Where? I cannot confirm that detail, but there was a meeting and I can assure you it was very positive.”

However, the former Chelsea boss has now come out to quash these increasingly strong rumours.

"I say categorically it is not true that I went to Milan, that I met with Massimo Moratti," said Mourinho in an official statement.

"It is just false to say that I am on the point of signing a contract with Inter Milan."

Nonetheless, the Italian rumour mill continues to turn and claims Roberto Mancini’s replacement has already been lined up.
