Brienza: We're fighting for 40
Thursday 27 March, 2008

Reggina revelation Franco Brienza has set a target of 40 points for survival and hailed new boss Nevio Orlandi.

Brienza has been inspirational since arriving from Palermo in January and already has six goals to his name from midfield.

But the Calabrians are firmly embedded in the relegation mire with 27 points as they prepare for a tough trip to Genoa.

“At the moment it seems that 40 points will be enough for survival, even though we will have to see how the results go in other games,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“On Sunday I am expecting to meet a Genoa side on form. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are doing well and the results they are getting demonstrates that

“They have practically guaranteed safety and they can play calmly, which gives an important psychological advantage.”

Reggina look to be growing under new tactician Orlandi, who replaced the experienced Renzo Ulivieri at the start of the month.

“Playing under Nevio Orlandi we have changed our attitude tactically and mentally,” Brienza confirmed.

“With Renzo Ulivieri we prepared for games based on the characteristics of the opponents, but now we quite rightly focus on our game because we just need to go out and win.”
