Lecce sporting director Guido Angelozzi hopes that Roma will buy the Salentinis 50 per cent share in Montenegrin hitman Mirko Vucinic.
Having spent last term on loan at Roma, Vucinic has become an important figure for the capital club and they paid Lecce around £5m for a co-ownership deal at the start of this season.
Despite reported interest from a number of top European clubs, including Manchester United, Roma are in pole position to cement Vucinics signing at the end of the campaign.
I hope that Vucinic plays for Roma next season, Lecce director Angelozzi told Teleradiostereo.
We have very warm relations with the Giallorossi, as you can see from the dealings we have had over the last few months.
At the moment there are no meetings scheduled because the right time will come in May. We are currently busy with the race for promotion from Serie B and Roma are fighting on all fronts in Italy and in Europe.
Its not the time to be discussing the market. However, I will say that Roma are favourites for Vucinic, even if lots of big teams are interested.
We wont be talking about exchange deals or Romas youth players coming here to replace him as that doesnt pay respect to his position as one of the best players in the world.
Lecce are expected to demand at least £7m for their share in Vucinic, while Roma are believed to be keen to pay just £5m.
