Spain name squad for Italy test

Spain have announced their squad for next Wednesday’s friendly with Italy, including Cesc Fabregas and Fernando Torres.

The two nations will meet in a warm-up for Euro 2008 at the Luis Valero stadium in Elche on March 26, kick-off at 21.00 UK time.

Azzurri boss Roberto Donadoni will unveil his squad later this evening, but Luis Aragones has already given his list.

Real Madrid legend Raul has been left at home, but Premiership stars Fabregas and Torres are in the side. Getafe midfielder Ruben De La Red receives his debut call.

In this summer’s European Championships Spain are in Group D with Greece, Russia and Sweden.

Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Pepe Reina (Liverpool).
Defenders: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Joan Capdevila (Villarreal), Raul Albiol (Valencia), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Carlos Marchena (Valencia), Fernando Navarro (Mallorca), Alvaro Arbeloa (Liverpool), Juanito (Real Betis).
Midfielders: Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Xavi (Barcelona), David Silva (Valencia), Albert Riera (Espanyol), Xabi Alonso (Liverpool), Ruben de la Red (Getafe), Marcos Senna (Villarreal).
Forwards: David Villa (Valencia), Daniel Guiza (Mallorca), Luis Garcia (Espanyol), Fernando Torres (Liverpool).
