Jose shrugs off Mancio shadow
Saturday 21 March, 2009

Jose Mourinho is “indifferent” to the shadow of Roberto Mancini looming over his Inter career, as comparisons with his predecessor continue.

The fact he was unable to progress any further in the Champions League than Mancio has intensified speculation over whether it was a mistake to hire the Special One, while the Italian confirmed last night he is still under contract with the club.

“I don’t need to reply to speculation or say I am happy at Inter. Why should I? Mourinho focuses only on one thing right now: winning the Scudetto,” said the Coach.

“Do I see Mancini’s shadow over me? No. Was I indifferent to it? Yes. He has three years left on his contract, I have two.”

The Portuguese boss also snapped at a journalist during the Press conference when asked what he thought after seeing Liverpool thrash Manchester United 4-1 just days after Inter’s Champions League elimination.

“Nothing, what was I supposed to think? I don’t understand your question.”

That exit prompted Mou to reportedly draw up a list of players he wants signed in the summer and others who must be sold.

“There is not a list, but there is a united philosophy with the club,” he explained.

One of those certain to be on his way out is Maxwell, the Brazilian left-back admired by Mancini and pushed out to make way for 18-year-old Davide Santon.

“That wasn’t my fault. Santon is the one to blame! This ‘child’ can play 15 years for Inter. I would expect a dip in form or consistency from someone so young, but he improves with every game.”

Maxwell has already been in negotiations with his future club, as his agent confirms a switch across the city to Milan is in the works.

“There is a possibility,” confessed Mino Raiola.
