UEFA: Diagnosis Werder for Udinese
Friday 20 March, 2009

Udinese will have to negotiate Milan's destroyers Werder Bremen if they are to progress to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup.

The Zebrette reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup for the first time in the club's history last night.

The Friulani were beaten 1-0 by holders Zenit St Petersburg, but their late show in the home leg proved decisive as they won 2-1 on aggregate.

Now Pasquale Marino's men must raise their game still further as they have been pitted against Bundesliga giants Werder Bremen.

Bremen beat Milan in the third round on away goals and came past French outfit St Etienne in the last round 3-2 on aggregate.

The ties will be played on April 9 and April 16 with Udinese travelling to Germany first.

Should Udinese go through, they will face Hamburg or Manchester City.
