Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik is now a hero off the pitch too after he unwittingly helped police solve a crime.
A local man got in touch with the police earlier this week when two men came to his house and tried to sell him a fake contract for a telephone.
While he ran the proposition over in his head, one of the men took a walk around his apartment and stole a figurine of Hamsik.
The old man didn't notice, but his Napoli mad grandson did and police added the information to their case notes.
A few days later, police stopped two men in the street and searched them. In one of their pockets was the Hamsik figurine. Both men were arrested and the case closed.
This is the second time something rather odd has happened to Hamsik since joining Napoli from Brescia in 2007.
The 21-year-old Slovakia international was carjacked in December and robbed of his favourite Rolex watch.
Napoli fans set up a Facebook page apologising for the crime and the Rolex was found a few days later.
