Relegation-threatened Chievo have been dealt a potentially damaging injury blow as striker Stephen Makinwa will be out for a considerable period.
The Flying Donkeys are battling to try and avoid an immediate return to the Second Division.
Last weekend's heroic 3-0 win over Lazio helped Chievo move above Bologna into 16th place, but they still have a lot to do.
Coach Domenico Di Carlo hasn't been helped by the news that Nigerian marksman Makinwa has a quadriceps problem and will be out of action for around a month.
To make matters worse, it has also been confirmed that talented midfielder Simone Bentivoglio will be sidelined for two weeks after damaging an adductor muscle.
A depleted Chievo side will host Palermo at the Stadio Bentegodi this weekend.
