Giovanni Trapattoni responded to Jose Mourinho’s birthday wishes by suggesting the Inter boss “ride the tiger with good judgement.”
Republic of Ireland manager Trap turned 70 today and was congratulated with messages on both the Inter and Juventus websites.
When asked what he thought of Mourinho, the veteran tactician did not hold back out of politeness.
“He is an intelligent lad who certainly takes advantage of his popularity and media impact to increase his cult of personality,” Trapattoni told Radio Radio TV.
Mourinho has had numerous run-ins with the Italian media and Trap warned it was a very different game to the papers in England.
“I told him in Italy there are a great many competent people and that he must ride the tiger with good judgement, otherwise it can get dangerous…”
