Genoa Coach Gian Piero Gasperini wants his side to make their season unforgettable by qualifying for next year's Champions League.
The Grifone beat Cagliari 1-0 at the weekend and currently lie fourth in Serie A, just two points ahead of Roma and Fiorentina with 10 games remaining this season.
Roma and Fiorentina have a superior organic, Gasperini told Radio Radio. That's because they started out with superior objectives.
But we have our own enthusiasm for the situation in the League, a situation that we did not expect.
Gasperini anticipates the race for fourth place to get even harder as the season enters the final stretch.
The struggle will open up because Palermo and Lazio still have a chance of making the Champions League.
The 50-year-old then explained just how much it would mean to Genoa to qualify for Europe after 17 years in the wilderness.
To get back into Europe after such a long absence would be a great success. To get into the Champions League would make the season unforgettable, he concluded.
Genoa are back in action next weekend when they face Udinese, who drew 1-1 against Catania on Sunday.
