Amid reports Roberto Mancini only agreed to stay on at Inter if Adriano was sold, the striker’s agent insisted their rapport “has always been good.”
Mancini announced he was quitting the club at the end of this season, but changed his mind less than 24 hours later after a meeting with President Massimo Moratti.
It has been suggested in newspapers that Mancio laid out a set of conditions, which included the permanent departure of Luis Figo, Alvaro Recoba and Adriano.
“Adriano’s rapport with Mancini has always been good, just as it has with all of his Coaches,” assured agent Gilmar Rinaldi on Radio Kiss Kiss.
“There are many players at Inter and a tactician has the job to choose who plays. Adriano understood that, he is a professional and has never caused problems for his Coach.”
Towards the end of his Nerazzurri stint, Adriano was often left in the stands as fifth choice striker behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Julio Cruz, Hernan Crespo and David Suazo.
He was loaned out to Brazilian side Sao Paolo in a bid to regain his form and fitness, but was also told off for disciplinary problems there after walking out of a training session.
“Adriano is going well. He plays, scores goals and provides assists. He played really well in the most recent game,” maintained Rinaldi.
Yet earlier this week L’Imperatore told the local media he was “afraid” of returning to Italy next season.
“I don’t know if they wrote it because they thought there was too much pressure on him, but I am convinced he did not make those statements.
“He has a two-year contract left with Inter. Then we will decide together what to do.”
