Cesare Prandelli is confident of Fiorentina’s chances at San Siro against Serie A leaders Inter. “We can beat them.”
The Viola have struggled of late and were defeated 2-0 on home turf by Palermo last week, but hope the Nerazzurri can feel the after-effects of Champions League elimination.
“We will be facing a very determined side that will want to react after the European exit, but we too need a great game,” explained the Coach.
“We are going to Milan in order to trouble a great side and we have everything we need to achieve that aim. We can beat them.
“I have asked my players to put in a performance that is determined, courageous and fearless.”
Fiorentina held crisis talks this week in which they went head-to-head and openly discussed their recent problems, Prandelli declaring there were now “no alibis.
“Thankfully it has been a more relaxed week in which we trained with a smile on our faces, and that can help a great deal.
“There are two months to go and we must find consistency, even if we have already been up there for the past four years running and have nothing to ask forgiveness for. We just need more convincing performances.”
Prandelli takes on Inter boss Jose Mourinho, who has attracted headlines for his abrasive nature with the media.
“I think he is a great Coach and a real character, a motivating force who has sent important signals to his colleagues, too.”
