Totti focuses on fourth
Friday 13 March, 2009

Roma captain Francesco Totti has stressed the importance of securing Champions League qualification this term.

The Giallorossi have just been eliminated from Europe by Arsenal after a penalty shoot-out on Wednesday night.

Now the capital club must look forward and try to ensure that they book a place in the competition next year.

“Our objective is Champions League qualification,” Totti said in the Corriere dello Sport.

“It is a very important and exciting competition and we want to be in it next season.

“We have achieved so much and we will continue to do so. I am very confident of our abilities.

“I had to play against Arsenal, even though I wasn't fully fit. It was so important to be there and the pain faded.

“I want to thank my teammates for the way they played. They showed that they understand perfectly what this shirt means.”

Roma travel to struggling Sampdoria this weekend and face familiar face Antonio Cassano.
