| | | | | | Moratti pays tribute to United | Thursday 12 March, 2009 | | Inter President Massimo Moratti has taken a philosophical approach to the Nerazzurri's loss to Manchester United.
The Beneamata were beaten 2-0 at Old Trafford to end their Champions League adventure.
Sometimes football can be cruel, but Manchester United are very good, Moratti told the Inter Channel.
All the English sides have shown that they are at a higher level than Italian football, both tactically and in terms of individual quality.
We showed some dignity and played well but we missed some scoring chances and you can't make mistakes away from home.
I don't want to find excuses. We met a great team who deserve to be world champions.
"Since all the Italian teams have been eliminated from the Champions League, we must start to think seriously about why this happened and we must recover as a nation.
"Now, we must start again on the European level, getting on track for next season."
