Mazzarri safe, says Marotta
Thursday 12 March, 2009

Sampdoria director of sport Beppe Marotta insists the Blucerchiati have no intention of parting with Coach Walter Mazzarri [pictured].

Sampdoria have disappointed this season and are 14th in Serie A with just 11 games left of the 2008-09 campaign.

Rumours questioning Mazzarri's future have abounded since the Blucerchiati were beaten by Bologna on Sunday.

“Mazzarri has done very well in the last two years,” Marotta told Primocanale. “We are sorry for the recent stories that have been put in circulation by some knucklehead.”

Sampdoria can still end their season on a high in the Coppa Italia. They take a 3-0 lead into their semi-final second leg with Inter on April 21.

The Blucerchiati are back in action this weekend when they travel to Roma, who were knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal last night.
