DONADONI REPLACES REJA
Tuesday 10 March, 2009

Napoli have officially sacked Eduardo Reja and brought in former Italy Coach Roberto Donadoni.

The tactician was hanging by a thread after two points from nine games and crisis talks were held this evening.

Late tonight Napoli released a statement announcing they had fired Reja, who had been at the Stadio San Paolo since 2005.

Donadoni had been linked with the job over the last few days and he has seemingly been handed a two and a half year contract.

“SSC Napoli announce they have removed Eduardo Reja from his position and handed the reins to Roberto Donadoni.

“The club made this decision with great suffering, considering the crucial role Reja has played during the last five seasons which have seen Napoli go from Serie C to the top flight and then the UEFA Cup.

“Naturally the club thanks Reja with deep gratitude for his remarkable professional performance during these winning campaigns.”

This is Donadoni’s first job since he left the Italy bench in the wake of the Euro 2008 second round exit.

Donadoni will hold his first Press conference on Wednesday morning at 11.00 UK time at the club headquarters in Castel Volturno.
