Fiorentina Coach Cesare Prandelli was disappointed with the amount of chances his side missed in Sunday's disappointing defeat against Siena.
Fiorentina lost 1-0 at the Montepaschi Arena to their Tuscan rivals and saw their grip on fourth place loosen as Milan won at Empoli to go just a point behind the Gigliati.
“We played well in the first half, but we wasted some incredible scoring chances,” moaned the tactician.
“Also, in the first part of the second half we bossed the pitch and should have closed the game. Then we became tired, but the boys are giving their all and I cannot ask for more.”
Giampaolo Pazzini was the main culprit after he skewed a shot wide from close-range while Bianconeri goalkeeper Alex Manninger was stranded on the deck.
“We have to be more ruthless in front of goal,” declared Prandelli. “The Pazzini error? I am sorry for him because he is working well.”
The defeat at Siena came as a major surprise after a fantastic seven days for the Florence outfit.
The Viola stunned Juventus in Turin 3-2 last Sunday before all but booking a place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup with an impressive 2-0 victory against Everton in midweek.
