Roberto Mancini is heading to England for his next Coaching job but will it be for Chelsea or Blackburn Rovers?
The tactician was sensationally sacked by Inter despite winning three consecutive Serie A titles and seems set for a move across the English Channel.
He has been heavily linked with the vacant Chelsea post for some time as a replacement for Avram Grant, which would be ironic considering ex-Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho has taken over at San Siro.
New reports suggest there is another alternative, as The Times maintains Blackburn Rovers are making a firm bid to sign Mancio.
In both scenarios, he faces some stiff competition for the job, as Barcelona’s Frank Rijkaard is also in the running at Chelsea after Carlo Ancelotti and Luciano Spalletti turned down the post.
Blackburn too are looking at other candidates, such as Michael Laudrup and Alan Shearer.
Meanwhile, Inter goalkeeper Francesco Toldo has revealed more background to the extraordinary decision to sack the Coach.
“It’s true, he went because part of the locker room had turned against him,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Something changed ever since the Liverpool game and we even risked losing the Scudetto after his destabilising comments.”
The night of their Champions League exit on March 11, Mancini announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Although a crisis meeting with President Massimo Moratti saw him change his mind less than 24 hours later, the incident was still cited in Inter’s official notice of dismissal.
