Jose Mourinho has demanded several new signings to strengthen the club so that they can challenge for the Champions League next season.

The Sunday Mirror claims he has pinpointed van Persie as one of the players who can give them a step up in quality.

The 25-year-old Arsenal man is celebrating this weekend as Holland qualified for the 2010 World Cup.

His contract has another two years left to run, but it’s believed he is irritated at the lack of silverware and is seeking a move elsewhere.

Arsenal are also prepared to sell for £25m now rather than risk losing van Persie as a free agent in 2011.
