Maurizio Zamparini and Walter Zenga are known for fiery tempers, but the Palermo President insists “we will never argue!”
The decision to pick former Catania boss Zenga for next season raised many eyebrows and not just because of the switch between Sicilian rivals.
Zamparini has an itchy trigger finger and Davide Ballardini said he walked away because he could not stand the President publicly criticising his tactical choices.
“I felt offended by Ballardini,” snapped Zamparini in response. “During the year I only analysed the performances of the team, they were not meant to insult the Coach. It takes intelligence to understand that.”
Considering Zenga is also known for a fiery temperament which included several red cards for arguing with referees and a live television shouting match with a presenter is this a recipe for disaster?
“We will never argue,” assured the patron on Radio Radio. “We have two strong personalities, true, but we are also both intelligent.”
Zenga said he was leaving Catania to seek more prestigious challenges and Zamparini maintains the Rosanero are the right choice.
“He told me he wanted to lead Palermo and I replied that within three or four years he will be the Coach at Inter.
“We want to fight for the Champions League this coming season.”
