Ancona kept their Serie B hopes alive by snatching a late equaliser at home to Rimini in the first leg of relegation play-outs. The two sides go head-to-head in the hope of avoiding the same fate as already relegated Treviso, Avellino and Pisa. It didn't take long for Rimini to find a way through, as Pagano sprung the offside trap on La Camera's long ball to drill past goalkeeper Da Costa. Ancona fought back with a Miramontes free kick, while Docente had two counter-attacks go awry. The home side seemed done for and it would be incredibly difficult to recover from a home defeat in this two-legged affair. However, with three minutes to go Mastronunzio snatched a potentially decisive equaliser that gives Ancona hope. The second leg at the Stadio Neri in Rimini is on June 13.
