Genoa 'have Quaresma in hand'
Saturday 6 June, 2009

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has announced that he is “certain we will conclude negotiations for Ricardo Quaresma next week.”

The patron has long stated that the Inter winger will be joining his side in a co-ownership deal after the six-month loan spell at Chelsea.

“I am certain we will conclude negotiations for Quaresma next week,” Preziosi told Radio Radio TV.

It would give the Portuguese star another shot at Serie A following his dismal initial impression at Inter.

Under-21 international striker Robert Acquafresca was due to join Genoa as part of the transfer, but appears to be headed for Atalanta.

“I think he will go elsewhere with a team able to guarantee him first team football.”

Meanwhile, Preziosi – who has already sold Diego Milito and Thiago Motta to Inter – gave an overview of Genoa’s other transfer dealings.

“Our intention is to keep [Raffaele] Palladino and [Domenico] Criscito. We will soon meet with Juventus and I am sure we’ll reach an agreement.

“I hope Rubinho will reconsider his decision to leave and renew his contract with us, but if not there are two top class goalkeepers available.

“We were interested in [Lorenzo] De Silvestri, but I think it’s difficult to get Lazio into a negotiation for him.”

Milito's open letter to Genoa
Diego Milito has told Genoa he will be back despite his move to Inter, even if that means after he quits the sport. “This is my home.” More
