Reports from Portugal suggest that Juventus have upped their efforts to land Sporting Lisbon’s Miguel Veloso and are using Tiago Mendes as bait.
Gifted defensive midfielder Veloso has been on Milan’s radar for months, but Juve have emerged as favourites to lure him.
The 22-year-old has stressed that Sporting will let him leave if the right offer arrives and the Old Lady are desperate to find an answer to their midfield troubles.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola insists that the Bianconeri have proposed a part-exchange offer of £12m plus Turin flop Tiago.
Sporting are unlikely to turn down such a sum of money and are said to still rate Tiago, in spite of his Serie A nightmare.
Tiago is keen to make a fresh start after a horror spell with Juve and would be expected to welcome a return to his homeland.
However, there is a possibility that either Milan or another of Veloso’s many suitors may try and derail the deal.
