Cobolli Gigli admits D'Ago defeat
Tuesday 30 June, 2009

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has admitted defeat in the race to sign Gaetano D'Agostino, saying relations with Udinese are 'very cold.'

Talks turned sour earlier this week when Udinese President Giampaolo Pozzo told Juventus that if they want D'Agostino they will have to pay his full market value.

Juventus reportedly offered £11m plus part-ownership of Cristian Pasquato.

However, Udinese insisted it would take another £4.2m for a deal to go through.

“As for D'Agostino, relations are very cold with Udinese, even if there is the utmost respect for the club from Friuli,” Cobolli Gigli told Sky Sport 24.

When asked if he would now turn his attention to a left winger, Cobolli Gigli replied: “With less determination. First we need to think about a central midfielder.

He also revealed that during yesterday's annual general meeting, the board didn't talk about the prospect of renewing Alessandro Del Piero's contract.

“I don't believe it will be a problem. Today we spoke about the budget and how we can improve the team.”

Juventus need to raise funds if they are make more acquisitions.

They have tried to sell David Trezeguet and Christian Poulsen but both players have refused to budge.

“Without taking anything away from Poulsen, Trezeguet has an important history with the club. He is fundamental to this team.

“If he had to go away it would be because he found an arrangement that he likes and we consider to be convenient,” Cobolli Gigli concluded.
