Parreira: Milan need Dinho!
Sunday 29 June, 2008

As Milan veer back towards signing Ronaldinho, former Brazil boss Carlos Alberto Parreira recommends this partnership with Kaka.

The Rossoneri are determined to draft in a big star name for their attack, but after Barcelona closed in further on Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor, the target is drifting back towards Ronaldinho.

“It is a winning combination, I am sure of it,” said Parreira when asked how the two Selecao stars would combine at club level.

“Whoever has two phenomenons in their squad cannot help but be happy. Football is a spectacle, the people want to have fun and it is right to field as many top players as possible.

“Besides, it is not a problem to play Kaka and Ronaldinho in the same line-up. Place on centre-right, one centre-left and a striker in the middle. It’s marvellous!”

Carlo Ancelotti seems to agree and this weekend explained how he had been working out the tactics to suit such a formation.

Parreira knows full well the issues at stake, as he played them with Brazil in the 2006 World Cup.

“Milan have so many midfielders who know how to defend and attack. Just look at Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini, Andrea Pirlo and now Mathieu Flamini, not to mention Emerson,” continued the ex-Selecao chief.

“Ancelotti is a very careful tactician who knows how to place his men on the field. If Milan sign Ronaldinho, it will be a huge bargain, as he wants to prove himself after the last season at Barca and he remains an absolutely world class player.”

It is rumoured Barca have requested £20m for the former European and World Player of the Year.

Ronaldinho has made it clear in public several times that he only wants to join Milan, but the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.
