Quaglia hopes Lavezzi returns
Sunday 28 June, 2009

Napoli striker Fabio Quagliarella hopes Ezequiel Lavezzi will return to the club this season so they can form a great partnership.

Quagliarella joined Napoli from Udinese earlier this month in a transfer worth £12.5m.

He snubbed interest from Inter and Juventus to play for his hometown club.

The 26-year-old would now like to form a relationship with Lavezzi, who is the club's star player.

Lavezzi is at war with Napoli after they failed to keep their promise to increase his salary.

He wrote an open letter to the club expressing his disgust and is now in Argentina on holiday.

“I only hope that 'El Pocho' returns and does things even more enthusiastically. Up until now he has been extraordinary,” Quagliarella said.

“Together I believe we could really entertain ourselves.”

Quagliarella then went on to talk about what it means to him to play for Napoli.

“It's the dream of my life. I am happy. Finally the San Paolo's 70,000 fans will be on my side,” he joked.

Later Quagliarella spoke of his admiration of Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is spending a lot of money on the club.

“He is building a great team. After Real Madrid it seems to me Napoli are investing a lot on the market.

“I have also spoken with Roberto Donadoni, but not about formations. If we had to play with two strikers I would prefer to be the second striker, while in a trident I would like to be the centre-forward.

“We'll see what happens,” he concluded.
