In an effort to make their team more Italian, Inter are thinking about making a bid for Livorno playmaker Alessandro Diamanti.
The 26-year-old, who was the chief architect of Livorno's return to the top-flight, believes the time has come for him to make a jump in class.
He scored 17 goals in Serie B last season and created even more, ensuring Francesco Tavano topped the Second Division scoring charts.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have already inquired about the possibility of signing Diamanti, who is worth £10m.
Livorno President Aldo Spinelli wants to keep the majority of his side intact ahead of next season and is reluctant to sell Diamanti.
The prospect of Inter coming back with a monster bid for a player who was plying his trade in Serie C not too long ago appears unlikely, though.
Inter continue to be linked with Fiorentina and Brazil international midfielder Felipe Melo, who many feel is still their first choice.
